Connecticut Blue Jays 15U 4 - Connecticut Blue Jays 16U 3 -- Team Connecticut Blue Jays 15U faced their older 16U team for the third time in three weeks in various tournaments. Both of the last two meetings were won by 16U, and 15U was planning for a different outcome.
15U’s Sal Frosceno (Derby) pitched a complete game. He allowed just four hits and one walk. Right fielder Will Bruschi (Wilton) was one for two with two RBIs, belting a double. Second baseman Scott Lusita (Bethel) was two for three, scoring twice.
The 16U Blue Jays offense was led by shortstop Charlie Ameer (Weston), who hit a home run and was walked intentionally. Ryan Reuther (Wilton) who played left field and third base, had an RBI double. Pitcher Stephen Castagna (Masuk) went 3 ? innings, allowing two earned runs.

North Shore Cougars 6 - LI Braves Gold 1 - The Cougars and the Braves Gold are both in the same division in the Boys of Summer League. They faced off against each other in June, with the Braves taking that game 2-1. And they’ll be facing each other again later this week. In this tournament game, the confident Cougars came out on top.
The Cougars starter Anthony Telesca (Sachem East) pitched a complete game, notching 7 Ks while allowing just three hits and two walks. At the plate, he was two for four and scored. First baseman Brian Foley (Eastport / South Manor) was three for three with a double and two RBIs. Second baseman Eddie Johntry was two for three with a run scored. Shortstop Tyler Piccolo (Rocky Point) was two for four, scoring once, and played a stellar game defensively.
Braves shortstop Phil Dennis (Northport) was one for three. Designated hitter Richie Renkl was two for three with an RBI.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

North Shore Cougars 2 - Connecticut Blue Jays 15U 1 - The Cougars and the Blue Jays played their sixth game in three days. If anyone was expecting offensive fireworks on this Independence Day, they’d have been disappointed. Although the pitching on both sides was pretty sparkling.

The Cougars started Chris Brewer (Bayport / Blue Point), who put in five shutout inning, allowing four walks and just one hit. He was actually bested in almost every category by Blue Jays starter Cam Fennell (Greenwich) who pitched a complete game, allowing no earned runs, walking no one and striking out seven. But he did get the loss due to the two unearned runs allowed.

The Cougars third baseman Cody McPartland (Miller Place) was one for two, smacking a double and getting one walk. He also closed the game.

“I think that after this weekend, we are really peaking now,” Cougars coach Matt Piccolo explained. “We are comfortable in the field, at the plate, and especially pitching. I can’t say enough about our pitching.”

Understandable, when they gave up just two runs in the two championship round games.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team,” said Piccolo.

Blue Jays Alex Pinkus (Fairfield Prep) knocked in Connecticut’s only run with a clutch pinch hit in the 6th.
