VALENCIA, CA--(Marketwire - May 26, 2010) -  XProTeX, the company redefining traditional methods of sports protection, today announced they have signed on four-time First-Team All-American softball player Kaitlin Cochran to wear the XProTeX batting gloves, designed to protect softball and baseball players from injury to their hands and wrists. Utilizing A.I.C. (Advanced Impact Composite), a patented material specifically developed for use in impact applications in sports, the gloves significantly decrease the risk of injuries to the hand and wrist area by reducing the impact of a 100 mph fastball down to the equivalent of a 40 mph ball.

"Kaitlin was a game changer in NCAA Softball and currently is competing on the USA national team. She is a special hitter, with the combination of power, consistency, and mental tenacity," said Sue Enquist, former coach of the UCLA Softball team and consultant with XProTeX. "Kaitlin's decision to wear the XProTeX batting glove is the first of its kind for the sport of softball and we hope her leadership will help to showcase the importance of injury protection for all female athletes in the sport. The gloves help protect and enhance performance, while elevating player confidence." Kaitlin Cochran is one of the most prolific hitters in NCAA history. In 2007, Kaitlin hit .492 in the season, which helped her claim the 2007 NCAA National Batting Title as well as her second Pac-10 batting title in as many years. Her .492 average places her seventh all-time in Pac-10 history and her career average of .464 places her fourth all-time in Pac-10 career history as well. Along with her Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year award for her freshman campaign in 2006, Cochran was also honored again in 2007 by the Pac-10, this time with the Player of the Year award. Her talents at the plate were well known and feared by opponents as she was walked 59 times on the season, good for 10th in Pac-10 history, and 15 times intentionally, which is eighth all-time in NCAA history. Kaitlin closed her 4 year college career as a four-time USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist, Two-time Honda Broderick Award Finalist, and Two-time ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA All-Academic First Team. Post college, Kaitlin was the first pick overall by the Akron Racers in the 2009 NPF Draft, a member of 2009 and 2010 USA National Team and a member of 2009 USA Softball Pan American Qualifier Team, which won a Gold Medal.

XProTeX is ushering in a new era of innovation, safety and protection to the sports of baseball and softball, with a goal of achieving a culture where sports participation includes education around injury awareness and prevention. Launched after 30 months of research, development and testing, the foundation of the XProTeX line of batting gloves is A.I.C. (Advanced Impact Composite) a patented material that provides a lightweight, flexible, and non-restrictive solution to body protection with increased impact resistance. XProTeX's A.I.C. also provides greater coverage of vulnerable body parts, which is key as athletes of all levels are currently under-protected in many vital areas, especially their hands and wrists.

XProTeX chose to harness its A.I.C. technology for batting gloves as the first product in their line of advanced sports protection not only because the hands and wrists are currently under-protected in batting sports, but also because they're one of the most complex parts of the body and one of the most susceptible to injury. Small bones, blood vessels, nerve endings and tendons lie just underneath the surface of the skin without much muscle or fat to cushion them from an impact.
