Whalers 3 - Cardinals 3 (F/10)
Despite digging themselves into an early 2-0 hole after four errors, the Cardinals managed to tie the Whalers. Both teams matched zeroes from the third to tenth inning. The Cardinals received outstanding starting pitching from Alex Weingarten (Cortland) and relief pitching from Mike Dolce (Farmingdale). Weingarten and Dolce combined for seven strikeouts while surrendering just one earned run over eleven innings. Also for the Cardinals, Andrew Nunez (Caldwell) had an outstanding game. He tallied four hits, two stolen bases, and also drove in a run. The key contributors for the Whalers was Jonathan Pagan (Old Westbury) and Tyler Kapela (Old Westbury). Pagan notched two hits, drove in a run, and played an outstanding centerfield. Kapela came up big for the Whalers. He put in work, tossing eight innings while allowing only two runs. Not even eleven innings was enough separate these two clubs.
